Guest Choreographer with Sparrow Dance Productions

I'm writing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I'll be spending the week re-imagining my original work, Hey Diddle Diddle, on the dancers of Sparrow Dance Productions. The piece is set to make its New Mexico debut in September 2015. I'm so thrilled to be working with this group of absolutely fantastic dancers as they prepare to perform my work alongside the work of Sparrow's Artistic Director Christina Daly at The Wheels Museum in Albuquerque. The chance to spend a little time reveling in the dry summer heat of my hometown only makes this opportunity even sweeter.

Set in a film noir prison of magnetism, fate, and self-destruction, Hey Diddle Diddle asks questions about escape and re-invention. Five dancers conspire to escape the tides that tug them downward, keeping their eyes on the silver moon they long to jump over. In five verses, Hey Diddle Diddle is a dance for lonely nights and failing heroes.

I'm so excited that Chaddick Dance Theatre, the company I currently perform with, has been nominated for the Austin Critic's Table awards for Best Choreographer (Cheryl Chaddick), Best Short Work (Vicissitudes of the Heart) and the performance given by myself and my partner, Nathan Brumbaugh, has been nominated for Best Duet. It's a huge honor to be nominated alongside so many other wonderful dancers and companies! You can check out the full list of nominees in the links below:
